Ali Al-Sammarraie received his MCP in City Design and Development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and BArch from the American University of Sharjah. He consulted for major organizations such as Harvard, Perkins & Will, and The World Bank, completing tens of large-scale developments including major projects in Chicago and Dubai's downtowns. Ali researched autonomous and energy systems at the MIT Leventhal Center for Advanced Urbanism to identify the future of mobility and urban form. He is currently the Head of City Planning at Etihad Rail. He writes and presents widely on issues of sustainable urban development, equitable resilience planning, impacts of technology on urban form, and is the MIT Lloyd and Nadine Rodwin Fellow and BP Courage Award recipient.
